David Parks | President | Executive Producer           

 


 

David Parks is recognized as one of today’s top live television and event producers. As Supervising Producer of Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis, David oversaw the broadcast of the biggest live television entertainment event in history. Broadcasting live around the world for 24 straight hours to an audience of over two billion people, he built the infrastructure for the simultaneous HD production and live satellite feed of nine concerts on seven continents. Following that success, he repeated the feat on Pangea Day, a four-hour worldwide live broadcast sourcing from seven cities around the globe.

 

As the former Producer of the online music series AOL Music Live! David produced both the event and/or live streaming concerts for some of today’s biggest musical acts such as Jay-Z; Nelly Furtado; Fall Out Boy; My Chemical Romance; Ciara and Linkin Park. In addition, he has produced the live event and broadcast of the season finales of Bodog Battle of the Bands, Battleground Earth, the Fuse special Where Music Meets Film from the Sundance Film Festival and a live special for Criss Angel Mindfreak. David also toured with Kings of Leon and Good Charlotte as part of a TV series for MTV International.

 

David has extensive experience in Reality TV having produced, directed and shot shows ranging from The Real World for MTV to Nashville Star for USA/NBC to Murder In Small Town X for Fox. He also has an impressive list of credits in features and scripted television.

 

Recently, David has been producing events for the National Hockey League, including the 2009 & 2010 Winter Classic outdoor hockey games which aired live on NBC and CBC; the 2008 Face-Off Rocks concert from Detroit with Def Leppard and Alanis Morrisette; and the 2009 NHL Awards which broadcast live from the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

 

David also produced the broadcast of the acclaimed Change Begins Within concert from Radio City Music Hall, which featured artists Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, Moby, Sheryl Crow, Donovan, Paul Horn, Bettye LaVette and Jim James.

 

David brings a wealth of creative, technical and logistical knowledge and experience as a producer. He spent many years “below-the-line” and understands the intricacies of being a crewmember, which allows for a very smooth working relationship on the set. He is an expert at budgeting, scheduling and union issues, and, perhaps most importantly, interfaces well with Network and Studio executives.

 

David’s career began as a cameraman, first as part of the D.C. Press Corp, then in Hollywood, where he worked his way up the camera department ladder on major Hollywood films under Oscar winning Cinematographers Conrad Hall and John Toll. David shot his first feature in 1990 and went on to establish a successful career as a DP, shooting music videos, commercials, documentaries, TV series and movies.

 

David made his first step into Producing with the critically acclaimed indie feature film, The Sky is Falling. That led to a series of projects as a director and producer including the cult Fox murder mystery Murder in Small Town X. He was also Executive Producer and writer of the award winning National Geographic documentary Death On The Mountain: Women of K2. In 1998, he was named by “Variety” as one of “50 New Filmmakers to Watch”.

Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, David is a graduate of Syracuse University and holds a Masters Degree from the University of  Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. He is also an avid still photographer and his photos have appeared in national publications and are currently on display in shows in both Maryland and LA.

 

David is a member of the DGA, PGA and ATAS as well as a Master Teacher for the National Foundation for Advancement of the Arts (NFAA). He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
